2018: Relationship Goals | Pleasure Goals

Happy New Year!

It's that time of the year where we set all kinds of lofty resolutions because we want life to be different.

We want to be better versions of ourselves.  So why is it by February we're back to the same ole same ole?

Probably because, although, we start off with high hopes we rarely have a real PLAN.

What we need to set are goals.

Goals are accompanied with a plan, a deadline, and ways to measure our progress.

How do you want to see your relationship grow this year? Are you and your partner on the same page? Do you have the same goals?  This is a great time of the year to discuss how you both intend to nurture your relationship.  Are there trips you want to take together? Do you have financial goals for 2018? How will you strengthen your bond this year?  Talk about it!

How will you cultivate pleasure in your life in 2018?  Whether you're single or partnered up, being intentional about your pleasure is as important as being intentional about your career goals.

It's unlikely that you'd say, "I don't want to plan for career success that takes all the fun out of it.  I want it to spontaneously happen."

On some level, you understand that planning and preparation are essential to career success and development.  Why then is it so hard for us to believe that our pleasure requires intention and prioritizing as well?

Besides, spontaneous pleasure is a myth.  Even at the beginning of a relationship, a considerable amount of time goes into planning and preparing for when we will see our partners.  That's part of the excitement!

You CAN bring some of that back.

Believing that caring for your needs is selfish is so last year.  Once and for all, self-care is not selfish, it's self-preservation.  Ironically, it's the most efficient way to be able to help others!

Think about it, if you're feeling depleted and exhausted, how much are you able to do effectively and without resentment?  Now think about when you feel refreshed, rested, and healthy.

Which state allows you to show up at your best?  I don't know about you, but I rather receive support from someone who is mentally, physically, and spiritually balanced than someone who is drained.

By setting intentions for your relationship, pleasure, and self-care, you will be nurturing these parts of your life like never before which means you'll have results like never before.  Now THAT is something to look forward to in 2018.

Have fun and enjoy!
